CHRISTOPH SPENDEL is no stranger on the international jazz circuit, a prototype crossover musician and multi-talent, whether as a jazz piano or keyboard player, composer, producer or as professor for pop and jazz music at the university of Frankfurt, Germany. His work shows various perspectives such as live-appearances at Montreux Jazz Festival or at the ?Berliner Philharmonie?, collaborations with many of the leading artists of the German Jazz scene, as a support for the likes of Jim Pepper, Jon Christensen, Airto Moreira and no.1 US drummer Omar Hakim among others and releases on labels like MPS, MRS, Blue Flame/BMG and TCB.
Born in Afghanistan, HAKIM LUDIN is an internationally reknowned Modern Jazz?n?World-percussionist, whose magic rhythms appear in numerous sessions with some of the most requested Jazz musicians around, as well as in many studio works and on cd releases. He has worked with Luis Conte (Yellowjackets) and the German comedian-legend Helge Schneider. His current work is CD recording and European tour with Germany?s best known singer Konstantin Wecker. Also as author and DVD producer Hakim Ludin has a great reputation. His individuality and lyrical approach towards music and art are constantly in demand for bigger stage performanes as well as for film and tv-productions.
Japanese sound wizard NAOKI KENJI started his career as a keyboard player in Tokio and Osaka, deeply influenced by electronica heros such as Yellow Magic Orchestra und Riuchi Sakamoto. With releases in Japan, Europe and the US on labels such as Sony or Universal/US Kenji has a great experience as a producer, composer, DJ and remixer (e.g. for Al Jarreau and Ivan Lins). | | | | | | | PLANET LOUNGE
electric bolero
| | | Planet Lounge is a collaboration of three outstanding international artists, each of them with a different musical heritage. It's a joint venture by japanese-german electronica genius Naoki Kenji, German jazz pioneer Christoph Spendel and percussionist Hakim Ludin.
The trio showcases not only its exceptional talent, but also helps defining Liquid Lounge as a quality outlet that is always on the hunt for new sounds and exciting musical projects. PLANET LOUNGE's 'Electric Bolero' is an innovative and extremely deep musical journey, combining different musical genres to create a very special listening experience.
Jazz improvisations are fused with electronic soundscapes and organic percussions meet with dreamy harmonic textures. Smooth strings lay down on finest downtempo grooves, while warm basslines and house influences collide with sounds fromhis ambitions as a video artist, as he already did with his highly acclaimed works for cult like tv program 'Flowmotion' on public german station HR). The 'Planet Lounge' concept is a brainchild of Kenji, who had the idea to combine the different musical background of the three musicians. He also provided the complete drum and keyboard-arrangement for the project.
